Apr 16, 2018Share this page...CLOSED CAMPUS ON DISD AGENDA – Decatur High School closed campus is among the items on the agenda for tonight’s meeting of the Decatur ISD School Board. The district will also look to hire a high school principal and review a school safety audit. The meeting starts with a closed session at 6 p.m. with the board reconvening at 6:45 p.m. The meeting is open to the public and will be held at the Decatur ISD Administration Building, 307 S. Cates.ACADEMIC REGIONAL CHAMPS – Slidell’s UIL academic team won the Class A Region III academic meet Saturday at Keller Central High School. The Greyhounds clinched the team championship with 11 students advancing to the State UIL meet in 9 different individual and team events. Stone Coston led the way with first place finishes in computer science and computer applications. Taylor Davis, Layton Shelton, Shelby Johnson and Madison Splawn also claimed first in their individual events. The team’s OAP will compete today for the opportunity to advance to the State OAP meet in Round Rock. The regional championship represents the Greyhounds 3rd team title in the past 4 years.BULLS FALL IN REGION FINAL – Bridgeport dropped an overtime thriller to San Elizario on Saturday in the 4A Region I final, falling 1-0. The Bulls soccer team had advanced to the finals after defeating Midlothian Heritage 6-2 on Friday in the semi-finals. The Bulls end their season at 21-4-1.DISD HONORS HANEY – Decatur ISD is having a reception for school board member Kevin Haney 5 to 6 p.m. today at the administration building, 307 South Cates St. Haney served on the school board 12 years. He is not running for re-election in May.COLOR RUN – Today is the deadline to register for the 4-H Clovers Color Run 5K and Family Fun Run, if you want a T-shirt. The event is Saturday, April 28, at McCarroll Middle School, 1201 W. Thompson St. Cost is $15 for adults and $10 for kids. After today, registration increases to $20 for adults and $15 for kids.
